Caesars Entertainment’s fifth annual Corporate Citizenship Report, "Serious Play," highlights the gaming resort chain’s progress in areas including Responsible Gaming, Employee Development, Environmental Stewardship and Community Investment Performance. The report details the company's societal and environmental impacts in 2013, highlights its corporate citizenship efforts in action, and elaborates on how Caesars is fulfilling its mission of inspiring grown-ups to play responsibly.
"Corporate citizenship is rooted in the mission and values established in our Code of Commitment more than a decade ago. As our business evolves, our programs advancing corporate citizenship become more sophisticated," said Caesars Entertainment chairman, president and CEO Gary Loveman. "Our mission is to entertain and inspire grown-ups to play; but we also are determined to fulfill our responsibilities and take part in community life to deliver tangible benefits to all of our constituencies."
According to the report, Caesars met or exceeded various environmental efficiency goals, including:
- meeting and slightly exceeding its goal to reduce energy by 20 percent by 2015 (it achieved a 20.1 percent reduction) two years ahead of schedule
- exceeding its 2015 goal of reducing water use by 10 percent (achieved 18 percent) two years early
- exceeding its absolute carbon emissions reduction goal of 10 percent by 2013 (it achieved 12.6 percent)
- surpassing its 25 percent 2014 waste-diversion goal (achieving 35 percent).
The company also reported significant amounts of continued community giving and volunteer hours, and maintained its industry lead in Responsible Gaming programs, training 43,286 employees in 2013. Progress in these areas and more is highlighted in the infographic to the left.
Caesars' core priorities are identified through a comprehensive process involving feedback from stakeholders, consultation with external experts, and reviews by Caesars' Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Council. "Serious Play" is written in accordance with the GRI G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines at core level.
